Joseph Smith's Polygamy
Joseph Smith's Polygamy
Presentations 1: 2015 FairMormon Conference (Laura Harris Hales)
/

I was grateful to have the opportunity to speak at the 2015 FairMormon conference in Provo, Utah. My assigned topic was Joseph Smith’s practice of polygamy, but I wanted to talk about broader issues.

I covered six main topics: the early practice of polygamy, the disturbing and hard-to-understand concepts contained in D&C 132, the introduction of polygamy to the general membership of the Church in 1852, the cessation of polygamy, the Church’s current practice of ceremonial polygamy, and counseling with members having difficulty with this aspect of the Church’s history.

Hopefully FairMormon will release the video soon, but for now, here is the audio.

You can read the text of this talk here.

You can watch the video here.
